More Maths PLEASE! Find it here...

So you want more mathematics? Who doesn't?!

Mathematicians do really cool things. They do not do exercises in a textbook, check their answers, calculate a mark and then go onto the next exercise.

If you want to stretch yourself, there are far more interesting ways to be a mathematician.

Here are some options:

Coding: Join the Hour of Code and start your journey.
Hour of Code here - try different languages.
Khan Academy - Hour of Code
MIT's Scratch Platform - a place where you can learn from other coders
Do a search on coding for kids or hour of code and see what you find.

Brilliant
Their site says "Excel in math and science.Learn from wiki pages and problems written by a community of mathematicians, scientists, and engineers."
It's new to me (July 2016) but I am only hearing good things. Is it brilliant? Dive in and find out :)

Skills
These are for reviewing skills, learning skills or pushing yourself further.
Go as far as you want with Khan Academy. Get your class code, so I can follow your progress. You can add your parents as a coach too!

Checking Work
Mathway is pretty cool. It backs up my point that how quickly you solve something is not important. You need to be able to communicate how you solved problems and to use mistakes to help you determine possible solutions. Being quick is cool, but the phone/computer/tablet will be faster. The world needs creative mathematicians.

Youtube Channels
Something that makes you ask even more questions about the beautiful world of Mathematics?

Do you know a cool site that teaches you about mathematics in the world around us? Please email me and let me know so I can add it to the list below.

Numberphile on Youtube is great

Here is a very cool video on the Number 11 being busy everywhere every day in our world...
It was Numberphile's first video on their youtube channel.

And Vi Hart's Youtube Channel - mathematician and musician - mathemusician

here is one of my favourites about being bored in class

Hans Rosling is one of my heroes - he uses mathematics to try and make the world a better place. Maybe you can use Mathematics to save the world.

Check out his videos on his site called Gapminder - we watched this one in MYP5
